Join Luke on his journey to protect what he loves with this engaging children's picture book about sustainability and acting green.  After noticing the damage caused to the environment and animals due to trash and waste, Luke decides to take action.  He believes he can have a big impact on the world around him and invites his readers to join him!
Using his phrase, "Not for me, please", Luke role models how children can harness their inner super-hero and help protect the environment. He introduces the concept of Recycle, Reduce, and Reuse through relatable examples children can understand.  The rhyming story is catchy and the illustrations are captivating.
Let's choose to recycle, reduce, and reuse;
and with my strong phrase, there's no way we lose!
Here are some examples to show what I mean,
and how you can join me and begin to act green.
Interesting facts, definitions, and statistics can be found in 'info' boxes throughout the book. The info boxes give a wonderful chance for rich discussions on sustainability, choices, and change at home, in kindergarten, elementary schools, or in reading groups.
At the end of the book, there is a reflection section to prompt dialogue about the topics covered in the book: environment, sustainability, zero waste, impact of plastic, climate change, what it means to recycle, reduce, and reuse, single use plastic, water and energy conservation, and acting green. Children can put in their own words what they have learned and how it applies to them.
Not for me, please! I choose to act green is ideal for children age 5, age 6, age 7, age 8, and age 9.

  1. A GREAT children's book that entertains and enlightens children A GREAT children's book that entertains and enlightens children, as well as adults. Maria Godsey uses clever rhyming, imagery and storytelling, wrapped in colorful and lively illustrations, to convey a simple, yet important message; responsibility starts with an idea, and one simple action and from there can grow like an acorn into an Oak. Not only will young readers identify with this wonderful book, but Mom, Dad, Teachers and all adults who read it are sure to find themselves smiling, while...

  2. This is THE school tool to educate 6–9 y kids on environment If you search for a children’s book that explains, what is our responsibility and what can we do, for the environment, then you have found the book you were looking for!The illustrations in the book are wonderful.The story s written in rhyme. It’s a nice, an easy to read narrative, that entertains and drawn the children's attention. I love the way that at the bottom of each page, the author explain more to the children (and adults) so they have a better idea of what is going...

  3. Great Book Great book to teach kids about responsibility and the environment through an engaging and relatable story. I particularly liked the dual layer approach with additional, relevant, information at the bottom of each page that gives more specific details if needed, but if not you can just focus on the story itself.Also beautifully illustrated, if you're interested in this topic and discussing with your kids highly recommended.
